Dean Carlson
After staying active by playing competitive sports through high school and into college, followed by time in the US Army, Dean took up the highly competitive sport of recreational eating. It was a strict adherence to this regimented lifestyle that not only allowed him to become a champion coach potato, but also 80 pound fatter than he is today.
After a serious wake-up call spurred him to get off his butt and back into shape, Dean pursued his training credentials and subsequently opened Get Fit NH in 2008 with his business partner (and coincidently wife) Nancy. Under Dean’s leadership Get Fit NH has been recognized Best Gym in Southern NH from 2010 to 2014, and Dean has also been recognized as Best Fitness Trainer 3 times in that same period.
Dean credits Get Fit NH’s success in large part to the continuous drive to do what it takes to get his clients better. Clients walk in the door to lose fat, build muscle, and feel great. Pursuing the FMS credential and implementing Smart Group Training into his training facilities was a logical progression into not only getting his clients better, but moving the training industry forward by implementing protocols that are respected and understood by physical therapists, orthopedic physicians and other allied health professionals.

He has 4 years of Division One coaching experience and over a decade of working with clients in the private sector. He has worked with everyone from housewives who just want to look good and feel good, to professional athletes in the NFL, LPGA, and MLB; his most notable client being Scott Downs who is currently with the Chicago White Sox and is going on his 13th year in the MLB. Jim has helped dozens of young athletes achieve athletic scholarships to Division 1 schools and also trains a team of female Powerlifters, The Miss Fits. You can read about their experiences and successes, including state and national records at their blog, www.themissfits.com.

Jim has a reputation for two things: getting more results from less work, and getting his clients both strong and healthy. Jim’s motto of “Training Smarter, Not Harder” has earned him the respect and recommendation of numerous orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists.
Johnny Fukumoto
You can find Johnny in the Great White North (Winnipeg, Canada to be specific) at the helm of Fukumoto Fitness, a safe and smart group personal training facility that prides itself on a culture of celebration, education, family, exercise regressions, and guaranteed results.
Smart Group Training has been woven into the fabric of his ‘anti-gym’ over the past few years after sensing a strong need for more ‘think first, move second’ and ‘move well then move often’ in his city.
His passion for helping people gain self-confidence through teamwork has brought him into the world of obstacle course racing, and he encourages his clients to set movement, performance, and recovery goals along with body composition goals (which is only one piece of the puzzle).
He met Steve after driving 28 hours one weekend to improve his craft, and then connected with Jared the following year. They’ve been bouncing ideas off each other ever since!
He is honored to be a part of the SGT Team.
